PLEASE NOTE: During November - March single day rentals are R600. If you book 2 or more days the daily rental is R349 and R399 for the Coupe and Cabrio respectively. 


Questions often asked:

Can I rent a car from Smart Car Hire with a foreign Driving license and not an international license?
Yes, as long as it is a valid US, UK or European license.

Can I rent a car on a long-term basis?
Yes, we offer monthly special rates.

Does Smart Car Hire deliver or drop cars at the airport?
Yes.  However, we charge a R400 fee per delivery or collection.

Can we leave the car at the airport?
No.  We can meet you at the airport for collection at an additional fee of R400.

Can we pay with a credit card?
Yes, but we do not accept American Express or Diners Club cards.

Can I use my deposit to pay my rental at the end of my contract?
No, as we then do not have a deposit.

Is there insurance on the vehicle?
Yes. The insurance is included in the price.  The excess is R5000 in the event of an accident or the car getting stolen.  Any damage to the vehicle including scratches, dents, damaged tires, windscreen damage etc. will be deducted from the R5000 deposit.

What happens if something goes wrong with the car?
Call / Phone smart car hire.

Can I do the Garden route?
Yes, as long as you are within the 250km zone.

Can I go out of the 250km zone if I pay extra?
No, as our cars can only be used up to 250km and no further.

Do you offer cars with Air-conditioning?
Yes, all of our vehicles have air-conditioning.

Do I have to wait while you inspect my car?
Yes.

Can I rent a car with no excess?
No, but you can take the Excess Reducer option @ R100.00 per day and reduce the excess to R3000.

Can I have more than one extra driver?
Yes, the main driver is included at no charge, and the price is R200.00 once off per extra driver.

Are there any hidden costs?
Smart Car Hire has no hidden costs as they are all stated in our terms and conditions.
